Video script β€” TheAccessibleReportCard walkthrough

  • Product: TheAccessibleReportCard β€” https://acr.theaccessible.org
  • Goal: show a buyer grade a vendor’s VPAT/ACR and get a score, per-disability impact, and a remediation roadmap in minutes.
  • Length: ~90 seconds
  • Audience: procurement, accessibility, and IT leads who receive vendor accessibility docs and must judge them before buying.
  • Embeds on: acr/getting-started

Read the accessibility requirements. Use a synthetic vendor ACR (β€œAcme LMS VPAT”), not a real vendor’s document.

Voiceover transcript

A vendor sent you a fifty-page accessibility report. Is their product actually usable β€” and what’s the risk if it isn’t? Let’s grade it, free.

Upload the VPAT or ACR β€” Word, PDF, or HTML β€” or paste a link to a published one; we fetch it server-side. It’s parsed into criteria and product details.

It detects whether the product is software, hardware, or hybrid β€” which sets whether it’s graded against WCAG and the right Section 508 chapters.

Add the cost and how many people use it, and the report turns accessibility gaps into a real risk level and estimated affected-user counts.

Every criterion shows the vendor’s claim β€” and you can override a rating or add a note. The grade recalculates as you go.

You get a letter grade for WCAG 2.1 and 2.2, a risk badge, and an impact breakdown across seven disability groups β€” from blindness to motor and cognitive.

A remediation roadmap orders what to fix first. Export a PDF, editable HTML, or CSV β€” and if it grades C, D, or F, generate a Texas EAE exception packet for procurement.

Know exactly what you’re buying β€” before you sign. It’s free.

Accuracy notes

  • β€œACR” and β€œVPAT” are used interchangeably (same document). Free; no card.
  • Product-type detection (Software / Hardware / Hybrid) sets WCAG 2.1/2.2 (A & AA) and/or Section 508 chapters; user can override.
  • Grades both WCAG 2.1 and 2.2; disability-impact spans seven groups (blindness, low vision, colorblindness, hearing loss, cognitive, motor, epilepsy).
  • EAE exception packet only when the grade is C, D, or F (Texas Β§2054.460) β€” see acr/eae-exception-packets. Exports: PDF, editable HTML, CSV.
